Fragrances and allergies 

For those with allergies it is particularly important to avoid fragrances in cosmetics. An allergic reaction to a specific fragrance could occur at any time. Therefore people with allergies and particularly sensitive skin must use fragrance free cosmetics. Fragrances in beauty care products are usually called perfumes. Particularly well-known fragrances that should be avoided are geraniol, limonene, benzyl benzoate and salicylate. Some of those fragrances have a natural source but are synthetically manufactured. 

Synthetic fragrances are added to make cosmetics smell nice. These substances belong to different classes. If the list of ingredients for your make-up or cream include amines, esters, sulfides, aldehyde or alcohol, you should think about changing products.  Compared with natural fragrances, synthetic substances are cheaper. Also, synthetically manufactured substances last longer. Artificial colours

This type of dye not only causes allergies, but they are also thought to be carcinogens. Azo dyes can often be found as CI 19140 or CI 14720 in the ingredients of many cosmetics. 

Phithalic acid & Sodium lauryl sulfate 

If you find phithalic acid listed on the packaging of your cream, make-up or shampoo, you should stop using them. The substance is linked to diabetes, infertility and obesity. Sodium lauryl sulfate should also not be present in make-up, creams and toothpaste. Sodium lauryl sulfate causes allergies and skin irritation. In the mouth the substance causes aphthae and inflammation.
