From hyaluronic acid to vitamin C: Active ingredients for beautiful skin
Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid, also know as hyaluron, provides an extra boost for moisturisation. Hyaluron molecules can bind a lot of water. It plumps the skin from the inside, moisturising it all the way through. Tip: For a special moisturisation boost, use a hyaluronic acid serum before your moisturising cream.
Glycolic acid
Glycolic acid, also know as AHA, combats skin blemishes and acne. The fruit acid is derived mainly from grapes and raw sugar cane and cane juice. Used on the surface of the skin, it removes dead skin cells and penetrates the deeper skin layers. So blemishes, enlarged pores and signs of ageing and combated effectively. Tip: Use products with glycolic acid every other day before going to bed and do not follow with any other care products.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C gives you a radiant complexion. The antioxidants make free radicals harmless. Free radicals destroy proteins and cell membranes. They are essential for giving you glowing skin. Vitamin C also supports collagen synthesis and reduces age spots and acne scars. Tip: Products that contain vitamin C should be kept out of direct sunlight and used quickly after being opened.
Retinol
Retinol is an anti-ageing miracle. It’s scientifically proven that retinol is the most effective means against wrinkles and lines. Retinol is the purest form of vitamin A and stimulates the fibroblast cells in the skin to produce collagen. This makes the top skin cell layers more resistant and smoother. Tip: Begin with a low dose of retinol as your skin has to get used to the retinol first. You should be aware that retinol can make your skin sensitive to light. So it is best to use it in the evening and use a high SPF in the day.
