Tips for perfect curls
Perfect care for healthy curls
What a sight! Whether you’ve got corkscrew curls or gentle beach waves, curly hair is one of the most desired hairstyles. With the right care, curls can look wild and seductive. You just need to bring it out of them. For maximum shine and bounce, you need to dig deep in your box of tricks. Though curls are charming, they are also very demanding. If you’re aware of a few hair care particularities you can achieve wonderfully sensual curls that will turn heads.
On a wavelength
Your styling at home will miss the mark if your cut’s not right. With natural curls, the length and shape of the cut is particularly important. You need to decide whether you want the curls to be tight or to hang more loosely. So the first order is: go to the hairdressers! With their experienced eye, the stylist will quickly determine the perfect haircut for your face shape and hair structure. A layered cut is particularly flattering on naturally curly hair. A stylish bob can also be great for showing off every strand.
Shine and glamour
There’s almost nothing curls need more than moisturisation. There’s a simple reason for this: The structure of curly hair means that it sticks out far from the scalp, so the hair gets less sebum. So it can soon look dry and coarse. As usual, a styling wand or tongs draw moisture out of natural curls. Intensive moisturising shampoos, conditioners and treatments can counter this. Massaging rich hair oil into the lengths and ends provides a long-lasting sheen and makes your hair look healthy with a rich gloss.
Get the hang of your curls
There’s often one small step between wonderful and frustrating curly hair and it’s this: combing. It’s hard to believe that different beauty tools are so crucial. But it’s true. Curly hair is demanding. Brushes and combs with plastic or metal teeth should be avoided. Instead use a wide toothed wooden comb to detangle your hair and tame your locks. Or even better, your fingers. That way you avoid turning your beautiful waves into poodle fur or frizz.
Fresh air
Curly hair is best dried in the air. Just give it a shake, tame it with a wooden comb and it’s ready! But it doesn’t always stay like that for long. If you’re in a hurry, use a hairdryer with a special diffuser end which blows the air in gentle waves instead of pressing it downwards. This will accentuate your assets beautifully.
